At NSHA Development is our number 1 priority. Unfettered access to ice, gym time, and film analysis allows NSHA to take an individual approach to development. Hockey is a complex game that requires a complex athlete. NSHA breaks down each skill set with dedicated focus and the right coach.
Team practices- Following USA Hockey Development Model NSHA offers structured- high tempo practices to prepare for games. A combination of situation drills, team play, special teams and small area games. All athletes at NSHA have gone through a rigorous application process to ensure competition in practice is at its highest.
Skating- Edge control and stride mechanics are critical for player success at higher levels. Our skating and skills coaches have developed a structured program to systematically improve players skating efficiency throughout the season.
Puck Control- Puck control leads to puck possession and increased vision. Players will work weekly to improve evasive moves, puck protection and deceptive play.
Shooting- A important skill set in goal scoring players will have access to take as many shots a day as they can handle. Each shooting sessions will be focused on various types of shooting and position specific shooting. Players will also have access to take extra shots on our synthetic rink.
Free ice- Its important players have access to unstructured ice time. Individual skill exploration is a huge advantage of NSHA
